Amne Suedi Kagasheki
Amne is the Founder and Principal of Shikana Law Group. She is an advocate, who counsels foreign investors, international organisations, multinational companies as well as SMEs on legal issues pertaining to specific sectors in Africa. In particular, she counsels foreign investors as they develop and expand their activities across Africa.
Amne combines a strong experience in finance and corporate law, having worked in asset and fund management as well as private equity funds for a total of five years as a legal adviser for Capital Dynamics and subsequently Pictet & Cie in Switzerland. She advised on offshore investments, optimal company structures in accordance to the objectives of the company, wealth and estate management, fund formation and structured products, fiscal law, financial and securities regulations of major financial markets and general legal considerations with regards to financing and financial products and cross-border company law matters.
She has acted as adviser to the East African Community (the “EAC”) and the World Trade Organisation (the “WTO”) and possesses a strong understanding of regional integration matters, particularly the economic law of regional integration, international trade as well as bilateral and multilateral negotiations.
Amne is experienced in conducting high-level mediation with ministries and government agencies on behalf of her clients. Amne read her Bachelor degree and Master degree in Law at the University of Geneva, where she graduated with honours. She read her L.L.M. in International Trade and Financial law at University College London. She speaks English, French, Kiswahili and Spanish.
Yusra is a Principal at Shikana Law Group and in charge of Research and Development. She is a specialist in public international law and human rights.
Yusra’s areas of expertise include: the law of treaties (treaty drafting and interpretation), international law of the sea (including maritime delimitation), territorial disputes, international human rights, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, international environmental law and WTO law.
She is currently a PhD candidate in public international law at the University of Geneva’s Law Faculty. She speaks English, Kiswahili, French and Arabic.
Rosette Comfort Kani
Rosette is a Principal at Shikana Law Group and is an advocate with over 10 years of experience in capital markets and regional integration within the East African Community.
Currently engaged as a lead consultant with the East African Community (EAC) Investment Climate Program of the World Bank Group and the Efficient Securities Markets Institutional Development Project of the World Bank Group, Rosette’s strengths are in capital markets regulation and development, corporate governance, market supervision, regulatory frameworks and legislative drafting.
Rosette previously held the position of head of Legal and Compliance at the Uganda Securities Exchange (the “USE”) where she was charged with ensuring compliance of USE, market intermediaries and listed entities with the regulatory framework work within which they operate. In addition she was responsible for reviewing the legal framework to ensure relevance and keeping up to date with regional trends.
Rosettee also represented USE on the EAC Technical Working Group on the Development of the Harmonized EAC Securities Legal Framework.
She was the Secretary of the East African Securities Exchanges Association, an association of regional securities exchanges whose objective among others is to cooperate in developing the regional securities markets.
Rosettee advises on capital markets regulations and development, corporate governance, market supervision and regulatory frameworks within banking and finance.
Rosettee is an advocate and holds a bachelor of law from Makerere University (Uganda) and a masters from the University College London. She is a World Bank Group Knowbel Award achiever and speaks English and Baganda
Joseph is a tax adviser at Shikana Law Group where he advises on tax legislations and the impact on businesses.
He worked as tax manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in both Tanzania and South Africa and has a total of 8 year experience in tax and business advisory. Joseph has provided tax and business advisory services in agriculture, public sector, telecommunications, finance, insurance, mining, energy, retail, and tourism and manufacturing industries.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University, an ACCA Fundamentals Certificate and has undergone an advanced course in Value-Added Tax from the University of South Africa. He is fluent in English and Kiswahili.
Géraldine is a senior lawyer with extensive experience in the physical trading operations where she worked for many years within legal departments of trading companies, mostly in the energy sector (Louis Dreyfus Commodities, an international oil trading company, and Trafigura).
Géraldine provides support to companies by anticipating legal issues, reducing and/or estimating legal risks and liabilities. She has sound experience in drafting and reviewing high profile agreements within the energy sector. Géraldine has worked for 2 years on a high profile arbitration case where she successfully represented Socar Trading in an oil trading dispute whereby the claim amounted a sum of approximately USD 100 million.
Géraldine combines a strong knowledge in the commodities trading law (physical and derivatives transactions), regulations, commodity financing and corporate matters.
Géraldine is admitted to the Geneva Bar in Switzerland since 2008, holds a Licence in Law from Geneva University and read a Masters of Arts (MA) in International Trading, Commodity, Finance and Shipping. She is fluent in French and English.
Ally is an Associate at Shikana Law Group where he provides legal support to the senior advocates at the Firm. Ally attends to litigation matters where he represents our clients and also provides legal advice on corporate law matters.
Ally holds a Postgraduate Diploma from Law School of Tanzania and is an alumni of St. Augustine University of Tanzania.
Ally is an active member of Tanganyika Law Society, East African Law Society and advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and Courts subordinate there to. His areas of expertise and interest are in employment and labour matters and litigation.
Beauttah is an Associate at Shikana Law Group where she attends to matters related to corporate law. She attained her post graduate diploma in legal practice (PGDLP) from The Law School of Tanzania and a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) from The University of Nairobi – Parkland Campus.
She is fluent in English and Swahili and an intermediary speaker of French.
Hawla Tamim is a Legal Officer at Shikana Law Group.
Her duties including legal research particularly research on government regulatory and policy changes.
She is a former legal advocate for Asylum Access. She was awarded her postgraduate degree in la from The Law School of Tanzania. She was awarded a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Dodoma. She is fluent in English and Swahili.
Theclar Hippolyte Mbura
Theclar Mbura is an Office Administrator at Shikana Law Group. Her duties including managing the office functions, policies and procedures and providing administrative support for the firm. She holds a bachelor degree from Eastern Africa Statistical Training Center and she is fluent in English and Kishahili.
Kennedy Emmanuel is the immigration specialist at Shikana Law Group. He handles permit applications for investors and their staff members and families and advises clients on immigration laws in Tanzania.
He holds a Bachelor degree in Law from St. Augustine University of Tanzania and speaks fluent English and Kiswahili.
